language-legislation-in-the-us.pptargumentative-research-calendar.docDear 11B Parents and Students,

I want to wish you and yours a very happy holidays. I have attached the Argumentative Research Project Calendar for your use and information. Students will have handed in the 1st 1-2 page Writing Response by the end of the day Friday. I will return these responses graded on January 5th when we return. Once we are back in school, the project begins in earnest. I want you to be able to think about the topic over the holidays: Should English be the Official Language of the United States. There are many opinions out there about this debate. I have attached a powerpoint about this legislation which is not up for consideration in our legislature. You can also Google the topic and see many many views about the topic there. Once we start research in school, the only search engines students will be allowed to use are MEL, SIRS and GaleNET. But, I encourage students to be reading and thinking about their stance for the paper by accessing anything they can find over the holiday break.

Again, have a happy and safe holiday season!

Smiles,

Ms. Clock
