iLearn in Kindergarten!

Our Kindergarten classrooms recently were given one iPad to share between three rooms of students. We are grateful to give our students this opportunity, and they are responding well to the new technology in the classroom.  To be more consistent with the use of technology, I have posted a project onto the Donors Choose website in hopes of getting a classroom iPad for my students to use daily.  It is my hope that eventually we will have 4 or 5 iPads in the classroom for one table to use at a time during Daily 5 centers.  If you or anyone you know might be interested in contributing to this meaningful project, please visit the link below.  All donations will be matched until March 20th. Thanks for your consideration!!

Scholastic Book Club Orders

Scholastic Book Clubs offer great books for kids at amazing prices.  Some of you have been looking for some easy, predictable pattern readers for your child to read at home.  Take a look at the Scholastic online ordering form at the following link:  https://orders.scholastic.com/KRVW2  Click on the class ordering code (KRVW2) and Type in “Ready to Read Phonics” in the search engine.  Choose from any of the boxed sets.  They are listed at wonderful prices.  I have used several of these sets with my own children at home, and have ordered some new sets for our classroom to use.  Let me know if you specific questions regarding your child’s reading level.

Happy New Year!

This is such an exciting time of the year for teachers.  I am always amazed to see the “aha” moments children have when returning from a restful holiday break.  The growth your children have made and continue to show are outstanding.  Thank you for your support from home reading take-home backpack books and ring-word cards.  Please let me know if you need another copy of the ring-words.

Thank You!

Crafty Spiders

Here we are creating our Halloween spiders last week.  Take a look!

Pumpkins and Our Five Senses

Today students used their five senses to see, hear, smell, touch, and taste pumpkins!!!  Students took turns scraping out the pumpkin pulp from their group’s pumpkin and gathering the seeds from the pulp.  When finished, they cleaned up their pumpkins and worked as small groups to design jack-o-lanterns, which Mrs. Fricke later carved out.  Tomorrow we will light our jack-o-lanterns up with flameless tea lights.  We will also taste our cleaned, roasted pumpkin seeds for snack.
