Dear families,

Welcome to first grade! I am very excited for the new school year to begin.

 This is the first of the weekly letters I will be sending home at the end of each week. If the week happens to be cut short there may or may not be a letter that week. It will depend on how much information I need to pass along to you. The majority of their finished work and newsletters will be sent home in Friday folders. Please empty out Friday folders each weekend and return them on Monday. Homework and urgent office notes will come home throughout the week in a separate folder brought from home.  This will be different than the Friday folder. I will supply the Friday folders.  Please send a “Go Home” folder with your child on the first day of school.

* Spelling words will come home weekly. Tests will be on Fridays. We will spend classroom time working with the words throughout the week and may take a pre test if needed on Wednesdays.

If you ever need to talk with me feel free to call me at school or home. During school hours I can be reached at 755-2550 ext. 8805. My home number is 780-5425. My cell number is 903-9008. You may also send a note in your child’s folder. Good communication between home and school will help to maintain a positive learning environment.

Announcements

• Classroom Volunteers Needed:  If you would like to volunteer to help out in our classroom please let me know. We can always use extra hands. There is a short clearance form that will need to be completed prior to volunteering. I will make a volunteer schedule durning the first week of school. Volunteers can be weekly, monthly, or whatever fits your schedule.
• Birthday Celebrations!  The children are welcome to share birthday treats with the class on or before their birthdays. We currently have 22 students in our class. We will celebrate summer birthdays in May and June.
• Please remember to send back all paperwork you will get at the Open House  in the manila envelope on the first day of school. I need completed class sets in order to turn them into the office.
• Snack: Students have a shared snack every day. Please send in a new snack to share each month. There are 24 children in our class. Individually packaged items work best because I can mix the snack options up and give the kids a choice. Feel free to package the items yourself to help save on cost.
•  Art Shirts Needed: We will be going to art weekly. Please send in a large t-shirt with your child’s name clearly written in large letters on the front to be worn to protect clothes during art.
• Gym Shoes Needed: We will be going to gym weekly. Students must wear tennis shoes to participate.

Meet the teacher night is scheduled for September 1st  from 5-7:00p.m. This will be a great opportunity to come in and check out our room. You are welcome to bring in your school supplies to fill your desks. I looking forward to meeting you. Student pictures will also be taken during this time. Picture envelopes came home in the mail along with the class placemment letters.

I can hardly believe that it is almost time for another school year to begin. I am looking forward to a great school year.  I hope your summer has been going well. I have enjoyed my time with my kids, but I am eager to get back into the school routine. I will be working on this site as I get new information. I will add the specials schedule soon.
