Welcome to my blog. I am pleased to bring information about my classes to you via the internet. This blog is designed to be a resource for both students and parents. Within it, you will find information on daily assignments, bell ringers and agendas, test and quiz dates, information about myself, and links to biology resources. Each week in class we will discuss all of the important due dates and upcoming events and activities, but sometimes students are gone, sometimes they forget (don’t we all!), and sometimes parents want to be more involved. This blog provides an avenue for parents and students to stay IN THE KNOW.
Biology is truly an ever-changing field and technology has hassened the rate of change. Parents often comment “I didn’t learn this until I was in college”, or “I never learned this” when looking at their teen’s biology textbook. These comments speak to how far we have come in a relatively short period of time. I encourage both parents and students to check out the RSS feeds on the left-hand side of the page. These feeds contain the latest and greatest in science news. Because this class is “biology”, I am most interested in the biology articles, but I encourage the exploration of any science article. The biology articles will be especially useful for “Biology Article” summaries that are done by Honors Biology students on 4 occasions throughout the 2 trimesters of the course.
Please note that Biology, Physical Science and Honors Biology each have their own area on this blog. Each area contains bell ringers, a trimester calendar, and links to assignments (and sometimes notes).
I hope that each of you has a wonderful school year!
Mrs. Sheila Hunt
