6. Muskegon Civic Theater “Tour Company” auditions are going to be held at Mona Shores High School, in the choir room, from 6pm until 9pm this Thursday.

9. Today, we kicked off our annual cheese and sausage fundraiser. Our choir program is one of the best around but it also costs quite a bit of money to maintain a this strong program of about 300 singers. Below are just some of the many costs we had last year. Your efforts in fundraising help to cover all of these costs:

Busing to and from Greenville, Mi. for District Choral Festival (All 5 choirs) $2,512

Piano tuning ($85 x 3 pianos, a couple of times each year. $765

Lighting equipment/truck rental for Pop Go the Sailors $3,200

Sound equipment/truck rental for Pop Go the Sailors $3,412

Lighting designer $1,200

Sound designer $1,200

Choreographers $1,500

Copy Machine (monthly maintenance contract $250 per month) 2,500 for 9 months (not including paper)

Free Purified Water for all choir students ($200 per month) $1,800 per year

Wireless Microphone Rental for Pop Go the Sailors Auditions $400

Sheet Music (not including Singing Tree) $1,425

Part of Michael D’Oyly’s salary $7,000

These items alone total over $26,000. We receive less than $8,000 from the school.

With the trimester, there is less time for the two teachers to teach privately during the school day, therefore lesson time slots are filling up very quickly (they are both nearly full…)
