Music in Moonlight:

A coffeehouse-style evening of outstanding talent and delicious food, takes place TOMORROW (Saturday March 1st) at 7:00 PM in St. Paul’s Church, 1006 Third St., (across from Hackley Park.) This is an eclectic night of amazing talent including the Mona Shores Chamber Choir and String Quartet. The $10 donation ($5 for kids under 12) provides an evening of fun, amazing entertainment and homemade, unlimited desserts and warm beverages. All proceeds benefit Heather Bloom’s (Choir student Dan Bloom’s Mom) fight against lymphoma.

KEEP PRACTICING!! WE NOW ONLY HAVE FOUR REHEARSALS (FIVE IF YOU ARE IN SINGERS/ACAPPELLA) LEFT UNTIL OUR MARCH 9TH CONCERT) . With all the days off, 1/2 days, assemblies, Chicago Trip, SNOW DAYS etc. we are behind with the music for our March 9th, “Of Earthly Things” concert. Please…..spend time every day on the blog listening to these pieces and looking at the lyric sheets. If we don’t do this we simply will not have a positive musical experience!

IMPORTANT UPDATED DATES & TIMES: Due to our lack of in class rehearsal time, our need to prepare with the middle school choirs and our desire to make quality music for our next concert, the following rehearsals are being added to the schedule:

ALL HS/MS CHOIR STUDENTS 3pm-5pm at the MS Middle School. THE COMPOSER/DIRECTOR, MR. COBB WILL BE HERE FOR THIS REHEARSAL AS WELL!

5pm-5pm Dinner Break (bring a sack dinner or you can go out)

6pm SHARP-7pm HS and MS Choirs walk through the program. Dress Rehearsal at the Frauenthal.

As usual, we began the day with a series of warm-ups followed by a sight-singing exercise. We have 21 different days of warm-ups (4 different warm-ups each day) and each of the choirs is singing from a different level of difficulty sight reading book.

REMINDER: IMPORTANT REGARDING COSTUMING:

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Bye Bye Birdie cast:

We are into the final month before production and counting. While I’ve received a few items from a few of you there is quite a bit of costuming that was on the list for you to supply that needs to come in…and soon! We need to check fit when it comes in. The originally requested deadline was March 7th – guys I realize some of you may be holding off on things because you are going to use your choir shoes and need them for the performance on March 9th , but please bring everything else in asap! I will be at school this week Tuesday from 3 through rehearsal for sure and probably Wed during rehearsal as well as Thur after school. I’ll keep you posted on the next couple of weeks. If you are unsure of what you need – check under pages on Mr. Lawton’s blog, call me or email me. But time is racing ever more quickly to get things ready! Thank you! Mrs. Patten

COLLAGE CONCERT:

RESCHEDULED FROM OUR RECENT SNOWED OUT CONCERT!! The new Collage date is THIS WEEK Sunday, March 2nd, 2008. The time will be at 4pm (not 3pm). We will have a quick run through of “O Fortuna” Thursday, Feb. 28th, right after school.

OTHER THINGS WE DID DURING OUR LAST REHEARSAL TOGETHER:

As usual, we began the day with a series of warm-ups followed by a sight-singing exercise. We have 21 different days of warm-ups (4 different warm-ups each day) and each of the choirs is singing from a different level of difficulty sight reading book.

SONGS PRACTICED DURING OUR LAST REHEARSAL TOGETHER:

All three directors were at the American Choral Director’s Central Division Conference last week Thursday and Friday. Students were assigned to work on all of our March 9th concert music, with the aid of special practice CD’s Mr. Lawton and Mr. D’Oyly put together.

With all the days off, 1/2 days, assemblies, Chicago Trip, SNOW DAYS etc. we are behind with the music for our March 9th, “Of Earthly Things” concert. Please…..spend time every day on the blog listening to these pieces and looking at the lyric sheets. If we don’t do this we simply will not have a positive musical experience!

2pm-4pm HS Choir joins the MS Choir at the Fruaenthal working with Mr. Cobb

4pm-5pm HS Choir only at the Frauenthal working with Mr. Cobb

5pm-5pm Dinner Break (bring a sack dinner or you can go out)

6pm SHARP-7pm HS and MS Choirs walk through the program. Dress Rehearsal at the Frauenthal.

7pm Doors open to the public for the concert.

7:30pm Showtime!!

9:00pm (ish) show is over.

TICKETS: Tickets will be available soon at any StarTicketsPlus outlet, at www.starticketsplus.com and at the Frauenthal Box Office from Monday-Fri. 11am-6pm. The date tickets will go on sale shall be announced in just a few days. We are firming up the details now.

REMINDER!! Set Help Needed: The Bye Bye Birdie Set Build and Tech Schedule has been posted under pages on the right of this blog. The build times for THIS week are as follows: (Allegros, remember that you have to put in 5 hours of set time. Choir students receive 2 points per hour of work as well!) With all the craziness of the past few weeks, let’s hope we can get back on schedule this week!

REMINDER!! The new Collage date is Sunday, March 2nd, 2008. The time will be at 4pm (not 3pm). We will have a quick run through of “O Fortuna” Thursday, Feb. 28th, right after school.

OTHER THINGS WE DID DURING OUR LAST REHEARSAL TOGETHER:

As usual, we began the day with a series of warm-ups followed by a sight-singing exercise. We have 21 different days of warm-ups (4 different warm-ups each day) and each of the choirs is singing from a different level of difficulty sight reading book.

SONGS PRACTICED DURING OUR LAST REHEARSAL TOGETHER:

We have been on Winter Break for four days. Last Thursday, while I was in Chicago with the seniors, the choirs were required to sing along with the CD containing all of their songs for our upcoming concert, with a focus on memorization.

KEEP PRACTICING!! With all the days off, 1/2 days, assemblies, Chicago Trip, etc. we are really starting to get behind with the music for our March 9th, “Of Earthly Things” concert. Please…..spend time every day on the blog listening to these pieces and looking at the lyric sheets. If we don’t do this beginning today, we simply will not have a positive musical experience!
