REMINDER!! MSHS Showcase Auditions are coming up quickly (This Week!): Wed., Jan. 21st! The show is March 19-20. This show will NOT conflict with the Allegros show week this year. An application must be turned in by Tuesday, Jan. 20th (tomorrow!).

NEW!! Knitting club is meeting at their newly scheduled times again this week. Today (Tues.) and Wed. from 3pm-4pm.

NEW AND VERY IMPORTANT: We are going to trade the Wednesday and Thursday rehearsals this week. Wednesday’s rehearsal schedule will be followed on Thursday and the Thursday’s will be followed on Wednesday. Mr. Lawton and Mr. D’Oyly will be out of town Thursday evening thus the change!

It seems that during every student tour, the adult staff ponder the idea of traveling without the responsibility of chaperoning the students and doing all the work involved with performing. Just a relaxing time among friends!!

We are now making this dream a reality with a trip to South Africa from June 16-28, 2010. We will be visiting cities such as Johannesburg (and the Kruger National Park-Safari style!), Port Elizabeth on South Africa’s South-Eastern Coast (with a day spent at the Addo Elephant National Park, home to over 200 Elephants!), ride ostriches, travel the Garden Route to Oudtshoorn, visit Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years, visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch and Caves and visit Capetown (with a penguin refuge!).

Anyone 18 years or older and that has graduated by June of 2010 is invited. This includes past Shores Choir Trip staff, students and friends of the choir!

NEW!! ATTENTION ALLEGRETTO NOTTE PARTIPANTS & THEIR PARENTS: This weekend is Allegretto Notte! We are excited to meet and work with your kids. Please have your students arrive at MSHS auditorium lobby this Sunday evening by 5:00pm. Students should eat dinner prior to attending on Sunday.

On Monday morning, students should arrive by 8:30am. Don’t forget to wear comfortable clothes, bring a water bottle (label it with your name) and a sack lunch. NEW!! In regard to scheduling your classes for next year, everyone that was in choir this year and wants to return next year must circle the choir that they are currently in. After auditions (just before spring break) I will send a list to the counseling department that indicates in which choir you have been placed and they will make the necessary adjustments.

Senior NYC Trip Update: During our senior trip meeting yesterday, we have decided that we will go and see, “Phantom of the Opera.” The second show was already chosen–”Guys and Dolls”.  Former student David Alpert is the assistant director for this show on Broadway! We are hoping he can set it up so we can meet the cast and all that good stuff.

It can be serious, funny, dance, sing, act, be comedic….whatever! This is an annual tradition and a fun way for us to get to know you better. We will be leaving for camp at 4pm on Friday and will return Sunday around noon. All new members must be here by 3:30pm to help load up the truck.
